Opal City was born on June 19, 2026 from a shower thought that was transmitted to the masses via TikTok! The viral video expressed a desire for a celebration of Black American Fashion, for a Renaissance of Black Joy and Creativity FOR Black Americans! A space for community, for whimsy, for STYLE!

Our mission is to create and maintain a safe space for Black Americans to unite in creativity and joy. Just as the wonderful Opal Lee united thousands in her advocacy for Juneteenth as a national holiday, I hope to unite you all for annual tradition of Black Joy!
